This small painting from 2012 was the first of my black grid paintings.
I began working on this in early December and finished the piece yesterday evening. I plan to show this at my opening in May. Stay tuned.
In 2012 I came across dozens of half-used gallons of interior house paint and decided to do a series of portraits with them rather than throw them out. This is my favorite — it felt the most like a self-portrait.
Untitled Diptych, Oil on paper, 8x10
I did this around this time of year a few years back. This is a painting that began as an exercise and turned into a scene. I don't always need an image to paint but sometimes they just come through.
I made this for a friend I lost a few years ago, Brian . It hangs in my dining room. It's also one of my most repainted canvases. Or was. It's done now.
Just hanging out in the studio. #Ragozzinoart
Well, at least in my studio. I did a bunch of these and this was my fav. Let me know if you want to see more. Oh, and they're pretty big. #Ragozzinoart
